Check out the New 2021 Ford Edge

Still in its second generation of production, the Ford Edge continues to be a formidable entry in the midsize crossover SUV market. For 2021, the Edge receives substantial updates to retain its position as a solid choice for Warner Robins, GA shoppers.

Trim Overview

The 2021 Ford Edge is split into five trims, which are the following:

  • SE: The SE provides the baseline features of the Edge.
  • SEL: This is simply a spruced-up version of the SE.
  • ST-Line: This is the mid-level trim of the Edge; it strikes a balance between convenience and sportiness.
  • Titanium: The Titanium is a luxury-oriented choice, with additions or enhancements that make the Edge more comfortable.
  • ST: As the range-topping trim, the ST is ideal for those who want to optimize the Edge's performance specs.

Performance

The base engine on the 2021 Ford Edge is a twin-scroll turbocharged 250-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, which is pinned to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Coupled with a front-wheel drivetrain, this drivetrain configuration produces the Edge's peak fuel economy, averaging 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway. The ST stands alone with a leaner-yet-meaner 2.7-liter V6 twin-turbocharged engine with 335 horsepower. Pinned to a seven-speed automatic gearbox, which is new for this model year, this engine gets the Edge off the starting block much faster than the four-cylinder. In addition, the ST has standard all-wheel-drive for better performance on slippery surfaces. (All-wheel drive is optional on the other trims.)

Technology

Forsyth, GA and Milledgeville, GA shoppers will be delighted to know that Ford has introduced the latest iteration of its SYNC multimedia system. Called SYNC 4, this system replaces SYNC 3's 8-inch touchscreen with a larger, 12-inch one. This touchscreen integrates various infotainment features such as a six-speaker AM/FM stereo system, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a few months of SiriusXM Radio, four smart-charging USB ports, and an audio jack for mobile devices, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. Also standard is a dual-zone automatic climate control system and a smart key system with push-button start. The Edge has the Ford Co-Pilot360 suite for driver assistance, which includes a lane-keeping system, automatic high beams, a rearview camera (with rear parking sensors, which is a standard new for 2021), forward collision mitigation, and a blind-spot information system with cross-traffic alert. The SEL gains auto-dimming ability on the rearview mirror, and Ford adds remote start and a wireless charging pad on the ST-Line. Only the Titanium gets a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. (Notably, the ST loses the charging pad and remote start.)

Interior

A five-seater, the 2021 Ford Edge provides two cloth-trimmed rows of seats. For Byron, GA customers who want a bit more comfortability than sticking with manual-adjustable front seats go with the SEL, which introduces 10-way power on the driver's seat, four-way power on the front passenger seat, and heating ability on both front seats. The mid-level ST-Line introduces a rear-seat back release for easier split-folding ability, and it is the only model with vinyl-and-suede seats. The luxury-oriented Titanium gets driver-seat memory and an upgrade to 10-way power on the front-passenger seat, and it stands alone with leather-trimmed seats. As the performance-oriented Edge model, the ST stands out with its leather-and-suede seat trim with red contrast stitching.

Exterior

Riding on 18-inch alloy wheels, the 2021 Edge uses bright and long-lasting LEDs for its exterior lighting. Power glass, manual-folding mirrors are attached to the front doors and a rear spoiler assists in aerodynamic performance. LED fog lamps and heated power mirrors with puddle lamps are introduced at the SEL trim level. The Titanium model introduces rain-sensing wipers and stands out with features such as door-handle chrome accents and a brushed finish on the dual exhaust system. As the performance-oriented trim, the ST stands out with a gloss-black mesh grille, LED signature lighting, a dual polished stainless-steel exhaust system, and 20-inch alloy wheels.
